Digital SAT Blueprint: An Overview!

Need a hard copy? We've got you covered!

It is true that the reading and writing modules are now restructured into two mixed modules, but the skills are still assessed independently; that’s why this book comes to you in two parts:

  1. Part One: Convention & Writing
  2. Part Two: Reading

The book integrates learning with immediate practice. Each chapter contains specialized SAT-based exercises designed to reinforce the subskills covered. These exercises resemble actual SAT questions in both format and challenge level. As you work through them right after studying a chapter’s content, you can immediately apply what you have learned and find areas that might need more attention from you. For a holistic learning experience, each chapter concludes with a comprehensive answer key. These keys explain the rationale behind every choice. They serve as an immediate feedback mechanism, helping you understand and fix any conceptual gaps.

Creating A Personalized Study Plan (Fresh SAT Takers)

If you are fresh to the SAT, all you need to do is three steps:

  1. Self-Assessment with Pre-Test: Begin by taking the pre-test to identify your weak points. After you are done with the test, you will find an answer key with the correct answers and the subskill assessed by the question. If you miss a question, label the skill that you need to study first, and so on. I suggest that you do not guess any answer in the pre-test; simply label the question that you do not know with (IDK). By doing this, you will have a credible image of your actual SAT level.
  2. Start Your Journey: Prioritize your study by focusing on the domains and skills where you had the most errors. For example, if you missed several questions related to ‘Evidence Support’, you need to focus on practicing that skill and refer to the Command of Evidence chapter. Do not forget: the book has targeted practice questions for each domain and skill—you should use these extensively.
  3. Reassessment with Post-Test: After a period of focused study and review which might take from two to four months, you should take the post-test
  • I took the test before, and I have a Reading and Writing Skills Performance Report. What should I do?

Then your starting point is the Reading and Writing Skills Performance Report provided on the College Board website. Compare your results to the digital SAT domain classification provided. Then prioritize the weakest domain to go through first. Each of the four domains has a few skills that are covered in the book chapters:

  • 1st Domain: Information and Ideas = 12–14 questions / 26%
  • 2nd Domain: Craft and Structure = 13–15 questions / 28%
  • 3rd Domain: Standard English Conventions = 11–15 questions / 26%
  • 4th Domain: Expression of Ideas = 8–12 questions / 20%
